Here’s a full day private tour that’s got everything! It’s perfect for friends, social clubs and corporate days out. Gympie is your historic backdrop to an exciting morning of clay pigeon shooting (no experience necessary!) followed by a delicious lunch and rounded off with a visit to an artisan gin distillery.
Coast to Hinterland Tours is currently the only local company offering this exclusive tour, so book now!
Choose your Sunshine Coast pick-up spot and we’ll collect you and your group in our comfortable COVID-safe air-conditioned minibus. We’ll drive you in luxury through the spectacular scenery of the Sunshine Coast to the historic gold mining town of Gympie, the town that saved Queensland from going flat broke.
There’s no time for any traditional gold-panning (which still goes on) because your first stop is the Gympie Clay Target Club, where you can try your hand at clay pigeon shooting in safety and style. You’ll be kitted out with the right equipment and now’s the time you’ll find out if you’re a crack shot or if your friends should be running screaming away from you. (Not really. Safety is the Club’s number one priority).
We think you’ll have worked up an appetite so at lunchtime we’ll chauffeur you to our favourite Gympie restaurant, the famous Zesty’s Edibles, where you’ll enjoy a freshly-prepared, delicious lunch overlooking beautiful gardens at the historic Gunabul Homestead. Ladies, perhaps you would prefer a 2-course lunch at Kingston House, the choice is yours.
After lunch, stroll back to the minibus for the short drive to Pomona for an unforgettable visit to the Pomona Distilling Company, nestled at the foot of Mt Cooroora in the Noosa hinterlands. You’ll receive a warm welcome from the team and have the opportunity to taste some exquisite gins. At late afternoon it’s time to board the minibus for the comfortable air-conditioned drive back to your drop-off point.

Get a decent night’s sleep because you’ll be up bright and early ready for your experienced driver to welcome you aboard our comfy, COVID-safe minibus. Seatbelts on, music on (your choice, of course!) and it’s off to the Sunshine Coast’s north hinterland, through national park country and up to historic gold town Gympie, which lies on the meandering Mary River. Gympie is chock full of registered historic buildings and is proud of its reputation for saving Queensland from going broke, back in the day.
You’ll skirt around past Victoria Trail Network, a bushwalking and mountain-biking paradise clothed in native eucalyptus, to your first stop, the Gympie Clay Target Club, which prides itself on its safe and friendly environment for a beginner or experienced clay shooters alike. The friendly Club helpers will be on hand to guide you through the process and you’ll enjoy a fascinating two-hour clay shooting session under qualified supervision.
It’s been a long time since breakfast so around noon you’ll say goodbye to the clay birdies and it’s back in the minibus for the short hop over the Mary River to Gympie’s timelessly elegant Gunabul Homestead, built way back in 1885 by local solicitor Francis Power for his extensive family. The Homestead’s restaurant is cheekily named Zesty Edibles and you’ll enjoy a delicious two-course lunch in one of the restaurant’s comfortable air-conditioned rooms or alfresco on the verandah, overlooking the beautiful gardens and golf course. The only problem you’ll have is deciding what to have for lunch – every dish is prepared on-site (and with lots of love) from locally sourced and produced seasonal produce.
Alternative Choice for lunch – Kingston House Impressions
Kingston House Impressions is a fully licensed a la carte restaurant found in the heart of Gympie. Built-in 1901 this magnificent Queenslander has been a doctor surgery, maternity hospital and loving home over the years.
We’ll wake you from your post-prandial Zesty’s or Kingston food coma in good time for you to hop back into the minibus for the short drive to your next destination, the Pomona Distilling Company, nestled at the foot of Mt Cooroora, a jewel of Tuchekoi National Park, part of the internationally-protected Noosa Biosphere Reserve.
You’ll love the relaxed, rustic-but-trendy atmosphere of The Pomona Distilling Company – there’s lots of space to stretch out, a cool street front, and a secret beer garden out back. But you’re here for the gin and rightly so: Master Distiller Robin Yates has created a tempting array of gin blends, using local botanicals and authentic Eastern European juniper berries just for you!
Experience the depth and nuances of some of the most mouth-watering, eye-opening gins you’ve ever experienced – and there’s always room for a gin cocktail! (There’s just one catch: drinks at the Pomona aren’t included in the tour price.)
After an hour of winding down and chilling out in the afternoon sunshine, we’ll chivvy you back to the minibus. Sit back, gaze out of the window and enjoy the views as we chauffeur you back to your chosen drop-off point.
